If you want some people-watching prospects & an excuse to let your hair down and get into the party season spirit, The Birdcage is the precinct for you.

Located within the modern surrounds of our Cuvée Bar which boasts an expansive indoor/outdoor flow, you won’t be able to get much closer to the horses with the (actual) Birdcage right beside you and the winning post directly opposite.

We’ll start the party off with a drink on arrival, a racebook so you can ‘track talk’ like the pros and have food available for purchase.

Plus! After the last race, The Birdcage will turn into the official afterparty where Jupiter Project plan to keep the party going ’til late.

All that’s left for you to do is gather the troops & get set to party the night away with us!

This precinct has ample cover for guests in the event of rain.

    • On-site parking is free and accessed through Derby Downs Place
    • All bars close shortly after the last race with the exception of the on-site afterparty and The Grove
    • Afterparty conditions apply: R18, dress code applies, intoxicated persons will not be permitted or tolerated, first-in-first served, space is limited
    • Auckland Thoroughbred Racing encourages responsible drinking and intoxicated persons will not be granted entry to Ellerslie Racecourse

    • Tickets are non-refundable and prices include GST. A separate booking fee of $1.50 per ticket will also apply upon purchase
