Stripped back and ready for you and your friends, family, picnic lunch and more – The Infield is the place if you’re looking for a laidback way to enjoy one of Auckland’s favourite social & sporting occasions.
A top pick for families wanting a relaxed way to spend their Boxing Day.
Free children’s entertainment* will be on offer in The Infield with the line-up including pony rides, a mobile barnyard, organised games & activities from Kelly Sports, swingball sets and more.
There will also be a bar ready and waiting to take your beverage orders, and a food truck within The Infield for those who aren’t so picnic-lunch-savvy.

You’re welcome to bring along your own picnic food, unopened non-alcoholic beverages, as well as chairs, picnic rugs and outdoor shade tents. Like the rest of the racecourse, The Infield is licensed so BYO alcohol is not permitted.
Please note:
- An infield ticket only provides its bearer with access into The Infield. It does not provide access into any other area on course. If you would like to be able to go anywhere else on course, including the fashion lawn to watch or compete in Maman Fashions in the Field, you will need to upgrade to at least a general admission ticket
- Any other racecourse ticket (i.e. General Admission, Cuvee, Champagne Lawn, Silks, Guineas, ATR Members, etc) provides its bearer access into this precinct
- Entry into this precinct is via 16 Derby Downs Place
- Cars are not permitted into The Infield zone however free carparking is located right beside it on a first-in, first-served basis. Ticketholders will need to transport their items from their cars & through the bag checks.

- While there is some shade / shelter in this precinct, it is designed as an open air space and thus, in the event of inclement or hot weather, racegoers are encouraged to dress appropriately and / or bring some form of shelter by way of umbrella or gazebo from which to be based under.
