With the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Million wrapped up up for another year, we’ve got a new wave of million-dollar champs who can claim that Karaka Million glow.

We take a look at this year’s winner as well as the existing honour roll – after all, they’ve joined some good company!


2023 Winner:

Hands together for Prowess, our 2023 Karaka Million 3YO Classic winner!

Prowess (Proisir x Donna Marie), ridden by Warren Kennedy and trained by Roger James and Robert Wellwood, was 2023’s champion. Prowess was purchased for $230,000 at Book 1, Karaka 2021 by Roger and Robert.
She was sold by Hallmark Stud.

2022 Winner:

Pin Me Up (Pins x Brampton Loco), ridden by Sam Weatherley and trained by Jamie Richards, took out the 2022 edition of the Karaka Million 3YO Classic. Pin Me Up was purchased for $270,000 at Book 1, Karaka 2020 by Andrew Williams Bloodstock/Konj.
She was sold by Waikato Stud.

2021 Winner:

Aegon (Sacred Falls x Toss Up), ridden by Leith Innes and trained by Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman, took out the 2021 edition. Aegon was purchased for $150,000 at Book 1, Karaka 2019 by Forsman.
He was sold by Waikato Stud.


2020 Winner:

Probabeel (Savabeel x Far Fetched), our only Karaka Million double winner, made history in 2020 when she was ridden to success by Opie Bosson and trained by Jamie Richards. Probabeel was purchased for $380,000 at Book 1, Karaka 2018 by DC Ellis.
She was sold by Waikato Stud.


2019 Winner:

Long Leaf (Fastnet Rock x Frustrating), ridden by James McDonald and trained by David & Ben Hayes & Tom Dabernig, was our 2019 winner. He was purchased for $750,000 at the Premier Sale in 2017 by BBA Ireland. He was sold by Curraghmore.


2018 Winner:

Scott Base (Dalghar x Extra Celestial), ridden by Rosie Myers and trained by Johno Benner & Hollie Wynyard, took out the 2018 edition of the Karaka Million 3YO Classic. Scott Base was purchased for $70,000 at the 2016 Select Sale by Chris Rutten Bloodstock.
She was sold by Brighthill Farm.
