Hailing from North Canterbury, June has qualified for the Final in many previous years. Will 2023 be her time to shine? We had a chat with June ahead of this year’s competition to learn a little more about her racing fashion experiences…

How long have you been entering FITF competitions?

Between 10 to 12 years now.

It’s safe to say you’ve seen plenty of racewear trends come and go then! What’s your favourite trend you are seeing in racing fashion at the moment?

I’m loving all the beautiful, bold, big flowers and prints.

Is it all about the ‘sash’? What keeps you entering these competitions?

I think it’s the thrill of putting together an outfit and going out with your mates for a day out, taking photos and having fun!

If you could visit any raceday in the world, which one would it be?

I would love to go to the Kentucky Derby, everyone wears the big crazy hats and I’d love to join in and go all out!

Can you tell us a little bit about the outfit you qualified in?

I absolutely loved my qualifying outfit (pictured below). I bought it from Myer in Melbourne, it had this cool bow at the back that I loved.

My hat was custom made for this dress by Locopa designs.

What’s your top tip for a day at the races?

Make sure you have glass of The Ned in one hand and betting slips in the other.

Who are your fashion icons when it comes to racewear?

Oh gosh! To be honest, I normally do my own thing when it comes to racing fashion. But, I do love looking at Australian ladies and what they do, they are all pretty amazing.

The Ned Prix de Fashion is New Zealand’s national fashions in the field final. There’s still time to enter the opening round with entries closing on the 23rd of April.
