Important Update: New Raceday Car Park Location At Ellerslie

We’ve introduced a new raceday car parking arrangement to improve your experience when visiting Ellerslie.

Please review the details below and share with any guests who may be coming racing with you.

New Raceday Car Park Location

Raceday car parking has been relocated from our Southern Motorway carpark (formerly accessible via Ascot Avenue) to our new infield carpark, with entry at 16 Derby Downs Place. Parking remains free of charge.

How It Works

Please enter at 16 Derby Downs Place, drive through the tunnel and continue on the road until you reach the carpark that is located within the racecourse infield. Once you have parked your car, head on foot to the pedestrian tunnel which will guide you safely beneath the racetrack to the grandstand side of the course. (Please do not cross the racetrack itself).

It’s about a 200m walk from the carpark to the Ellerslie Stand (the white building) which will be the first building you will come across.

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is still available by the main entrance gates / turnstiles. Guests with mobility parking permits or prior arrangements can use the designated spaces accessible via 100 Ascot Avenue. If you have specific access needs, please contact us in advance of the raceday.

Arrival by Foot, Taxi, or Rideshare

Drop-offs and foot access remain available via our entrance at 100 Ascot Avenue.

Auckland Thoroughbred Racing Members’ Carpark

Auckland Thoroughbred Racing (ATR) members have exclusive & complimentary use of their own carpark on racedays.  This carpark location has not changed and can still be accessed via Ascot Avenue. A current ATR membership badge must be shown in order to gain entry.

Why The Change?

This change is due to the sale of the Southern Motorway carpark site, now owned by Simplicity Living, who are developing the land. In response, we’re pleased to offer a convenient, well-marked alternative for raceday parking within our infield.
