Barfoot & Thompson Secures Naming Rights to New Zealand's Richest Annual Sporting Event

In a landmark partnership, New Zealand’s largest privately-owned, non-franchised real estate agency, Barfoot & Thompson, has secured naming rights for the inaugural Champions Day 2025, New Zealand’s richest annual sporting event.

The event, to be held at Ellerslie Racecourse on 8 March 2025, will be officially titled Barfoot & Thompson Champions Day.

Barfoot & Thompson Champions Day is set to be New Zealand’s richest annual sporting event, featuring premier Thoroughbred races, including the first-ever running of the $3.5 million NZB Kiwi slot race and more than $9 million in prize money on offer.  New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing’s innovative programme will showcase the prestigious Trackside New Zealand Derby and the historic Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup among a race card littered with black type that will attract international participation.

Barfoot & Thompson, established in 1923, has a rich history of supporting community initiatives and sporting events throughout Auckland. Their significant brand presence on-course during Barfoot & Thompson Champions Day underscores their commitment to fostering local talent and celebrating excellence.
